4/06/2019 | Electronics Recycling Event - Parkville
The City of Parkville is holding an electronics recycling event at Parkville City Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon or until the truck is full. There is no residency requirement. MRC will collect essentially anything with a cord or battery (working or not) during the event. This is a great opportunity to get rid of appliances, printers, cell phones, or other electronic items for free. There is a charge for CRT based items (such as CRT TVs and CRT Monitors). More information is available on the city's website. There is no residency requirement.
4/06/2019 | Shred-It Event - Clay County
Shred-It mobile trucks will be onsite at Worlds of Fun (4545 Worlds of Fun Avenue) Parking Lot D, accessible from the main entrance, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon or until the trucks are at capacity. Residents are encouraged to bring up to 2 banker's or copy paper-sized boxes of documents for safe and secure destruction free of charge. Proof of residency is not required.
The event takes place on the corner of Walnut and Liberty streets near the Independence Square from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event is open to members of participating communities.

The City of Leavenworth is having a Citywide Spring Cleanup at various locations around the city. Residents can drop off large items, electronics, household hazardous waste, and documents for shredding free of charge. More details available here.
4/13/2019 | RecycleFEST - Lee's Summit
RecycleFEST will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the City Hall parking lot (220 SE Green Street). Clean out those cabinets or garages and recycle items such as bicycles, empty prescription pill bottles, crayons, tennis balls and more! See the full list of items accepted on the city’s website.

4/22/2019 | Car Seat Recycling - Target Stores
Back by popular demand, Target's next car seat trade-in event is April 22 through May 4, 2019. Take your used car seat to the drop-off box located near Guest Services. The team member there will give you a 20%-off coupon good on a new car seat, stroller or select baby gear. Guests can get one coupon per seat dropped off. Learn more on Target’s website.
A collection event for household hazardous waste will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Pink Hill Park located off of Highway 7. The event is open to members of participating communities.
Overland Park will host a Recycling Extravaganza from 8:000 am to 2:00 pm at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Boulevard. Bring your confidential documents (for shredding); usable building materials; clothing, housewares, small appliances, toys and other items; electronics (there is a fee for CRT monitors and TVs); bicycles; fluorescent bulbs (up to 10 per vehicle); fabric and notions; garden tools; gently used shoes; mattresses, box springs and bedding; and pet supplies. 4/27/2019 | National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. Events will be held across the metro from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Find a location to safely dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs.
5/04/2019 | Recycling Event - Shawnee and Merriam
The Cities of Merriam and Shawnee are once again collaborating on a community-wide recycling event from 8:00 - 11:00 am in the former Kmart parking lot located at 8703 Shawnee Mission Parkway. Residents may drop off a variety of items including consumer electronics, bicycles, latex paint, and old documents that will be securely and professionally disposed. Eyeglasses will also be collected. Most items will be recycled for free, but there will be charges for televisions and computer monitors; donations are suggested for document shredding, a portion of which will benefit the Merriam Parks, Recreation, and Community Center Foundation and the Shawnee Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. Bicycles brought to the event will be refurbished and redistributed to various community organizations by the City of Shawnee. This event is open to Shawnee and Merriam residents only. A mobile collection event for household hazardous waste will be held on May 11 in Gladstone. The event takes place from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon at Happy Rock Park (North Antioch at 76th Street). The collection event is open to members of participating communities.
Kansas City, Missouri is hosting a Hard to Recycle Collection Event from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Manuel Tech Career Center (1320 Truman Road). If you live in the city, this is your opportunity to donate household goods, furniture, mattresses, bikes and building materials. More information will be available soon.
